The space sector, together with the information and communications technology (ICT) sector, he added, can be a driver for growth and regional cooperation, and promote collaboration in civil-use related disciplines between neighbouring countries.
The conference “CYPRUS EMBRACES SPACE 2016” that took place on May 18th 2016, was organised by the European University of Cyprus, the Research Promotion Foundation and the Department of Electronic Communications, under the Auspices of the Honourable Minister of Transport, Communications & Works, Minister Marios Demetriades. Addressing the ‘Cyprus Embraces Space 2016’ conference, Demetriades said that objectives include developing cooperation between scientific and applications-user communities in Cyprus and ESA member states, creating and strengthening the respective industrial expertise and capacity of Cyprus with a view to allowing a fair and equitable participation in future agency programmes, and fostering Cyprus’ understanding of European space products, standards and procedures.
During the event Additess LTD exhibited part of the EU Research projects, dealing with tech applications and innovative product/services. Two of the projects disseminated during the exhibition were:
- P-REACT The P-REACT project has developed a low cost surveillance platform that will detect Petty Crime incidents.
- ZONeSEC Addressing the needs of Widezones surveillance by defining a new European-wide framework, which will extend beyond a sole technical proposition.
